Patches

Only a few patches of greenery have survived the onslaught of the Kīlauea volcano on the island of Hawai‘i, in Hawaii. Its eruption has been ongoing since January 3, 1983 and has resurfaced 48 sq mi (123.2 km²) of land so far.
