Lava Tube

Picture perfect example of a lava tube along the Kalapana coast of the island of Hawaiʻi, in Hawaii. That tube used to carry molten rock from the volcano directly to the ocean, probably never even reaching the surface. Lava tubes can also be extremely long; one tube from the Mauna Loa volcano enters the ocean about 31 miles (50 kilometers) from its eruption point.
