The sun sets on the jagged coast of the La Perouse Bay in Maui, Hawaii. Most of the lava here comes from five eruptions within the last 500 years. The Kalua O Lapa flow, pictured here, is among the youngest. These lava flows form Cape Kīnaʻu and coat the adjacent sea floor.
