The Vallée des Fantômes (french for Valley of the Ghosts), in the Monts-Valin National Park in Quebec, receives on average 25 feet (762 cm) of snow per winter. Because the humidity in the valley is noticeably high, the snow accumulates water, becomes sticky and adheres to the branches. The valley also protects the trees from strong winds. In the height of winter, there can be up to 10 feet (3 meters) of snow on the ground, which gives the impression of walking among the top of the trees transformed into ghostly figures.
