Pū Hala trees in Waiʻānapanapa State Park, Maui, Hawaii. These trees are a very important to the Hawaiians who used it in numerous ways. It most likely arrived in Hawai'i on it's own due to the fact that its seeds float. The tree is very distinctive looking with thick aerial roots that spread out into the ground and large pineapple looking fruits. Hawaiians used the entire tree in a variety of ways to make roofs, as food and even for building water pipes.
